RI's and Savings Plan from AWS can save you up to 72% over on demand compute pricing. To get those savings you have to commit for one or three years. If your future demand is uncertain, you have to weigh the extra discount against the uncertainty. You can protect against the uncertainty by buying Compute Savings Plan that can cover all of your compute needs but you can be leaving more than 30% on the table. Also, before you commit, should you not consider the current utilization of your compute? How about licensing? Are you better off with a dedicated host and bringing your own license.
